CERTIFICATION PROGRAM: ELECTRO-MAGNETIC RADIATION SAFETY ADVISORS (CERSA)

A number of health experts (Dr. George Carlo, Dr Gerald Goldberg) are now predicting a major health crisis due to the unprecedented increase in ambient EMR (electromagnetic radiation) levels. The following program should help prepare health professionals for this crisis.

CERTIFICATION PROGRAM: ELECTRO-MAGNETIC RADIATION SAFETY ADVISORS (CERSA)

RATIONALE AND NEED:

Over the past five years, the problem of electromagnetic radiation health risks has gained international prominence. While some government bodies around the world have initiated precautionary preventive steps, most regulatory bodies have lagged behind in terms of consumer protection. This has left a void that, of necessity, is being filled by professional clinical practitioners, public health practitioners, representatives of companies promoting various intervention technologies and myriad other concerned parties.

While the science of electro-magnetic radiation dangers and solutions continues to evolve, there are limited avenues available for professionals involved in remedial practice to receive up-to-date knowledge and practical information for use in the field. The vast majority of the critically important public protection information has not yet appeared in mainstream professional journals and, because of this lag time, is not widely understood among professionals in the applied clinical sciences. Consequently, there is a great deal of misleading information, false information and hyperbolic claims regarding risks and remedies circulating amongst various groups, including both the news media and professionals charged with public health protection.

Central to the mission and terms of reference of the Science and Public Policy Institute's Safe Wireless Initiative, is the development of up-to-date knowledge about the public health risks of electro-magnetic radiation, preventive interventions targeting those risks, and the promotion of public education about both the risks and the remedies. The CERSA certification program is offered to further those educational goals and to facilitate informed, science-based decision-making by those charged with protecting public health and safety.

The CERSA certification program is comprehensive and is designed to be of practical educational and pragmatic application value for clinical practitioners, public health professionals, government regulators, school board members, product researchers, salespersons, industrial safety personnel, journalists, personal injury attorneys, union officials and corporate management.


CERTIFICATE EARNED:

Successful candidates will earn the designation, Electro-magnetic Radiation Safety Advisor. Successful candidates will be considered by and supported by the sanctioning body as "SWI CERSA Qualified". Certification is for five years, unless revoked for cause.

SANCTIONING BODY:

The Science and Public Policy Institute (SPPI), a Washington, D.C.-based, 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt, educational entity incorporated in 1992. The certification is offered through SPPI's Safe Wireless Initiative.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Class 1: Professional Clinical Practitioners:

Advanced degree in nursing, medicine, naturopathic medicine, chiropractic or other complementary or alternative medicine clinical specialty. With Qualification Exam application, candidate should submit a letter of petition requesting waiver of course requirements with current Curriculum Vitae attached.
Minimum score of 85% on CERSA Qualification Exam

Class 2: Public Health Practitioners:

Advanced degree or five years work experience in industrial hygiene, environmental health, environmental sciences or related discipline. With Qualification Exam application, candidate should submit a letter of petition requesting waiver of course requirements with current Curriculum Vitae attached.
Minimum score of 85% on CERSA Qualification Exam

Class 3: Others (with previous college level EMR science training):

Minimum 24 credit hours of classroom instruction in electro-magnetic radiation science in accepted university or college programs. With Qualification Exam application, candidate should submit a letter of petition requesting waiver of course requirements with course descriptions or transcripts.
Minimum score of 85% on CERSA Qualification Exam

Class 4: Others (without previous college level training):

Minimum 12 hours classroom instruction in SPPI sanctioned CERSA School.
Minimum score of 85% on CERSA Qualification Exam


CERTIFICATION EXAM:

The CERSA Exam consists of 45 multiple choice questions (one-point each) and 11 short-answer essay questions (five points each) chosen from 15. The exam covers the following three subject areas: The health consequences of EMR exposures; science-based preventive interventions for EMR induced health effects; "Tipping Points" in promoting public health and safety.

The maximum score on the exam is 100 points. The time limit for the exam is 2 hours. A score of 85% or greater earns certification.


CME AND OTHER CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION CREDIT:

The Safe Wireless Initiative will provide written support and application for those requesting CME and other continuing professional education credit.


CERSA SCHOOL LEARNING PROGRAMS:

There are two distinct CERSA Learning programs offered by the Safe Wireless Initiative specifically designed to help any level of applicant pass the CERSA Exam with relative ease.

CERSA Sequential Immersion School – weekend program with 12 hours of class time followed by the two-hour Certification Exam. Two additional Certification Exam sittings included. Tuition: $500. (For candidates with special circumstances, full and partial scholarships are available by petition.)
CERSA Distance Learning School – self paced home program, with DVD support. Fee: $300 including one Qualification Exam sitting.
